HOW DO YOU EVALUATE PEOPLE WITH NEURODEVELOPMENTAL DISORDERS?
Frequently, clients come to our office having been diagnosed by another medical provider. In the Infinite Potential Program, we use a multi-dimensional approach to the evaluation process. All clients receive a comprehensive evaluation because the brain controls every function of the body. First, we review the history of the disorder as well as all of the potential genetic and environmental factors. Then we perform a series of computerized analyses for attention and focus – problems, which are typically associated with these types of disorders. Finally, we perform an extensive physical examination, which gives particular focus to brain function. Once these components of the evaluation process are completed and assembled, we formulate a unique clinical treatment plan for each client.
DO YOU USE ANY MEDICATION IN YOUR PROGRAM?
No. The Infinite Potential Program is a non-pharmacological approach to the treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO THIS APPROACH?
No. Since there are no medications used in our program, there are no drug-related side effects or withdrawal symptoms.
WHAT IF MY CHILD IS TAKING MEDICATION?
Often, clients come in for an evaluation already taking different types of medication. Many parents choose (after consultation with the prescribing physician) to reconsider the need for medication based on the child’s progress in our program. Many of our clients eventually eliminate the need for medication.
HOW OFTEN DO CLIENTS COME FOR THERAPY SESSIONS?
Our program typically consists of individualized 75-minute treatment sessions, three times a week, for 12 weeks. Of course, each case is different and may require additional time to deal effectively with more challenging and difficult situations.
IS THERE ANY HOME WORK TO DO?
Yes. Our goal is to modify and improve the brain’s functioning over time. In addition to treatment sessions, every client is required to do “homework” – a series of repetitive assignments and exercises, which convert short-term gains into long-term permanent change. Our staff will design a series of activities that are specific to each client.
WILL YOU SEND MY PEDIATRICIAN A REPORT OF MY CHILD’S EXAMINATION FINDINGS?
We will be happy to send your doctor a report. Give us his/her name and contact information and we will keep your child’s pediatrician abreast of the entire process.
ARE THE RESULTS OF YOUR PROGRAM PERMANENT?
Usually clients experience permanent and significant changes when both the child and his parents are motivated to abide by the intensity, frequency, and duration of the treatment process.
HOW IS PROGRESS MONITORED?
Progress is monitored on a day-to-day basis, using feedback from family members as well as periodic objective neurological testing and treatment team consultations.
